PiBoIdMo 2012, I Hardly Knew Ye

Wow, November just evaporated. Funny the difference a year makes. Last year, I had all the time in the world to sit down each day with a cup of tea and ponder picture book ideas 'til the cows came home. No cows actually ever came, but I racked up a ton of ideas.

This year was altogether different. Story ideas had to be nabbed like butterflies in a net as I dashed around picking up kids at school and shuttling them to piano, karate, horse riding and ice skating lessons. Ideas often came from day-to-day inspirations and observations while on the go. With grocery bags in both arms, I'd be clumsily emailing myself a sudden flash of an idea before I lost it. Meanwhile, aside from my own self-inflicted projects, writings and submissions, I have thoroughly enjoyed contributing to some exciting projects by fellow writers--more to come on all that.

But by golly, busy or not, I got my 30 ideas in 30 days. And for that, I am grateful. Another big thanks to Tara Lazar for coordinating the PiBoIdMo events. See you next November! Until then, here's hoping everyone stays busy, productive, creative and motivated 'til the cows come home. They do eventually come home, don't they?
