Before I started writing books for kids, I wrote songs for kids.

I've been a singer and a songwriter since I was in high school, playing in a variety of bands throughout the midwest. After college I started writing musicals. I've always loved telling stories through music and rhyme.

Around 2008, I wrote and recorded ten folksy, fictional "story songs" about iconic landmarks in midwestern towns. Titles included The Butterfield Windmill, The Kearney Barn, The Silo in Milo, and so on.

While living in Denver, I formed an acoustic folk band called the Hobo Nickels. We played many of those original songs in shows and festivals. The band is no more, but the music lives on. Enjoy!
